Hi,
I have Hp Pavillion dv7-3000 running on Windows 7x64b. My laptop started freezing frequently in the past few weeks for no particular reason.
I thought it was OS issue and reinstalled Windows, but while the final phase of the installation was running freezing occured again. Did anyone have the same problem and solved it?

Have you tried the suggestions at this HP web page?

Yes I've tried most of the things listed there:
I'm using HP support assistant to tune up my system
and I think it is not caused by a malware or virus since the last it happened I formated my hard drive before installing Windows. May be it is driver issue so I'll update all my drivers and see if that will fix the problem....

Hi,
before updating the drivers.
Try WhoCrashed . It is a free and safe utility which uses windows own memory minidump to help isolate lockups and crashes. Run the Anaylyze! to see if there are any driver issues causing the problem

Hi
I have similar problems with a DV7-1005eo.
There is no pattern to the error at all.
It freezes randomly. It can happen during boot or during normal usage.
Sometimes the freeze takes 10 sec., 10 min. or never ends.
It can happen several times during a “session”.
I noticed that everything froze, display, mouse, keyboard even HDD stopped reading/writing (it was still spinning).
My conclusion was: something around the data bus is stopping / blocking it.
I started stripping the PC, removed WLAN card, removed DVD-drive, swopped RAM and HDD with another PC. (Everything function fine in a another PC)
Next: running the PC on AC adaptor only, after that running on two different batteries.
Temperature? No – there is not any connection between high/low CPU / heat sink temperature and the freeze.
Hope that HP soon can find a solution.
After reading several forums it seem that they have a general error occurring in their Pavilion range.
HP claims they have never heard of problems with freezing PCs.
