Hi,
i just bought that laptop 3 days ago, but i have the following problem:
If i turn off the laptop and with battery and charger both unplugged when i restart the lapto i notice that the Date information are lost (it restart with 01/01/2011 0:00) and if i try to restart from windows 7 i receive a CMOS Error on reboot (i tried to reboot several times from a linux live cd and the cmos error message did not appear after reboot).
The problem isn't blocking, in fact i just need to wait few seconds, and it restart and everything is working fine.
It seems that the cmos Battery is already gone.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Ivan

Contact HP for warranty service since there are no BIOS updates specifically for that issue. You are right in suspecting that your CMOS battery is no longer functioning. Keeping the time/date current is one of its most important functions.
