Hello,
Your nice Hp DV7 laptop probably needs its bottom and side vents cleaned out with some compressed air. You can pick a can up @ any BigBox or Computer store and just blast away @ the vents like crazy and there is no tomorrow or until the can is empty! I mean: Go nuts! Don't worry about the fan spinning and making noise, you can't hurt it, And your laptop will be soooo happy after this that it will run cool and like new without the freezing, okay? Here's a link to another like your problem. I get about fifteen a week, but the compressed air will work, so have at it!

If it were a rattler. . . .
It's not an issue with fan, because during power cable connected it's working normal. It gets hung only during battery mode.
