Pavilion dv7-4270us entertainment center laptop.  While on the Internet the mouse pointer will intermittently freeze and an orange luminescent dot appears in the upper left corner of the mouse touchpad.  What causes this and how do I fix it?

The mouse pad can be turned off or on by double tapping in the upper left corner of the tough pad.  You are simply shutting off the pad by accident.  I think you can go into the control panel and tough pad settings and turn that off but I can remember for sure.  I think it will be an easy thing to just double tap in that area and have it go back on.

Thanks very much. I did not know that orange dot was simply an on/off light. I may have another issue though that is causing my screen and/or pointer to freeze causing me to double tap the touchpad in frustration. I will investigate further. Thanks for that informative tip.
