my hp pavilion DV6-2174ca freezes randomly, is very slow

It takes about 10 minutes to start my computer. When I start softwares, it is always slow (not responding) at the beginning and for a while after that.

I defrag my computer, run virus scan, check disk.

I also installed your HP Support Assistant to help me find the problem.

Hi,

Did you perform a clean boot..If not you can try that. Before that check if it is slow in Safe Mode also. You can boot to Safe Mode with Networking by tapping F8 as soon as you turn the notebook ON.

To perform Clean Boot you can follow the steps below :

Check if it is better after Clean boot. Let me know what happens and then we can try few other things to fix the problem if it is a software problem.

Please try running HP Support assistant from your desktop - troubleshooting then test your hard drive,

Also check to see if you have more than one antivirus program running - if you do - uninstall one of them.

Here the result of the HP Hard Drive check. All OK.

I booted in Safe mode and I performed a Clean boot, still slow but not as much. Improved a bit but not as it was before.

Note: When I started in safe mode, I noticed that I have two folders for my drivers, one all in capital case and one in lower case. I don't know if this matter.
