nx9110 pauses on boot.

A friend gave me his HP nx9110 laptop and it appears that a setting has been flipped that causes it to pause on startup.

When started the HP logo appears and then the screen goes blank.  If I press the "F1" key the boot process continues and Windows XP starts with no errors.

Is there a switch somewhere that is causing this pause and how do I turn it off?

Thank you.

P.S.  BTW.  BIOS is at F.30 and I saw that the current BIOS is F.45.  Would this fix the problem by updating.

Hi,

Are you able to enter Bios now?

Yes.  I've already updated the bios and I don't see any settings that cause this.
