Midel - Pavilion dv4-2165dx

I am trying to repoair my daughter-in-law's computer.  When turning it on it immediatey goes to "Windows Error Recovery".  After selecting "Launch Startup Repair" it goes to "Windows Boot Manager" which instructs me to insert the windows installation disc and restart the computer.  This screen also shows the error 0xc000000e.

After inserting the installation disc (I had to order them from HP), I power cycle the computer and it takes me right back to the "Windows Error Recovery" screen.

*  I've checked the Bios (F10 during startup) and everything seems normal.

*  I've tried System Recovery (F11 during startup); I see the message "Go to System Recovery" in the lower left but end up back at the "Windows Error Recovery" screen.

*  I've ran the quick and comprehensive test on the hard drive and the memoery test via Bios diagnostics - all passed

*  Bios Vendor - Insyde; Bios version - F.05

I will appreciate any ideas this forum can provide.

Thanks

So, figuring that the computer had been infected with a virus which attacked the MBR, I started searching the web for a free tool to check and repair the hard drive.  I found Mini Tool Partition Wizard [http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html], downloaded their software, and using a free ISO Burner [http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/burnisofile.htm] created a bootable DVD.  I then booted with this DVD and was not surprised at what I saw regarding the configuration of the hard drive.  After repairing the partitions, I was able to boot from the installation discs I received from HP and the files are now being restored as I type this.

Update to my post of yesterday -

During the boot process by pressing the F9 key I was taken to a screen which gave me the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.  So I proceeded to start the installation using the factory fresh discs.  Everything seemed to go normal with reformatting the Windows partition (step 1) and copying the files (step 2) however on Step 3 (Restoring the files) I got the error message "C:\RM\Image\TempBASE.WIM was not found".

Is this an indication that the factory fresh discs are defective?
