Hi mraxlee,

I saw your posts and I will be happy to help. Here is different link to the UEFI tools. Try that and see if it will install properly for you. This is assuming that you are using Windows 7, is that the case or are you using a different OS?

If you are using Windows 7, try the above link and let me know how it goes. You still have to the option to restore the computer back to factory defaults using the link that DavidPK provide, which I have also included below.

Hi,

Download and install the HP UEFI Support Environment on the following link.  This will re-create the HP_TOOLS partition - when the option is diplayed, choose to create on the Hard Drive ( the default option ).

Sorry for late reply, been extremely busy. I get an error when I try and install the partition:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Edit: This occurs exactly the same when I right click and choose to run as administrator.

Edit2: I'm completely fine with doing a factory restore if this will recover HP_TOOLS. I still have the recovery partition.

Hi,

No problem Smiley Happy

Certainly performing a 'Factory Reset' will re-create all the original partitions on your Hard Drive, however it should be possible to just create the HP_TOOLS partition again.

If you want to perform a 'Factory Reset', the various methods can be found in the HP document Here.

However, if you want to try some further suggestions first, can you try the following and let me know.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  Into the Run box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter.  Click on Disk Management in the left hand pane and let the partitions load up.

Take a screen shot of this window, for example with Windows Snipping Tool and include this with your next post.

Best regards,

There is a screenshot of my Disk Management screen.

I have partitioning wizards to shrink down the C: drive to whatever is needed.

Thank you,

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the screenshot - everything looks good there and you only have 3 primary partitions so the UEFI installer should be able to create a 4th ( HP_TOOLS ) partition.

Try this slightly modified method.

First, download the installer on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63065.exe

Next, if you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note, if you have a 64bit installation, download and install the .msi 64-bit x64 installer on the link below.

http://www.7-zip.org/

When done, open your Downloads folder, right click the sp63035 installer, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder, right click 'Setup' and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.

Any improvement?

Best regards,

DP-K

I extracted the program with WinRar, and ran it as an admin. It asked me if it wanted to create HP_TOOLS, to which I clicked yes. Then asked if I wanted to shrink C:/ down so it can, and clicked yes again. Took much longer than last time but ended with the same error.

Would I be better off shrinking the C: drive myself?
