Hello,
Recently I bought a laptop HP envy 15 as004la which came with Win10 in spanish (because I bought it in Mexico).
For my work, I need to install Win7 in english (for which I have a legitimate license from my older laptop). However, I NEVER could make the installer work, because it ask for optical drivers that my laptop does not have.
At this point, I blame the installer (because it is old software trying to work on new hardware), but my question is:
Has somebody been able to install Win7 x64 in such a laptop? And if so, please let me know your procedure.
At some point I could install Win8 but I am not going to buy a license for a product I do not need or want (I already have one, of Win10)
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated !!

Hi, @lizette2017 :
Because your notebook has the Intel Skylake chipset, you need to run this tool to put the required USB3 drivers into your W7 USB flash drive installation media.
There is a readme link for instructions to use the tool.
Select the applicable file you plan to run the tool on.

Windows OEM licence cannot be transferred from one machine to another. So no point in proceeding with this installation unless you're ready to buy new retail version activation key of Windows 7 from Microsoft.
Nevertheless, Windows 7 is supported by HP and drivers you can get here: http://support.hp.com/lamerica_nsc_carib-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-15-Notebook-PC-series/108621...

Hello Visruth
Thank you for your quick response.
However, the problem persists. Since my laptop does not have optical drive, the only option to install anything is USB.
I already prepared my USB with an ISO I have got from Microsoft, and I have added all kind of drivers (hp and generic) in order to bypass this error.
I am aware that this is not a hardware's fault (the machine works fine), but it just do not install anything when trying the Win7 USB installer.
If you have a solution for this, I will be glad to buy a Win7 license, since this is my preferred version of Windows.
However, maybe I will face another problem... but this is a Microsoft issue (I am not sure if they are selling such licenses nowadays).
Anyway, thanks a lot.

You're welcome.
What is the exact error message you're getting?
How did you create this Windows 7 installation USB - is it this:

Dear Paul_Tikkanen:
Your suggestion worked as a charm !! The first trial was successful. I have already tried some other alternatives, but none was successful.
Thank you very much for your help !!

Dear Visruth:
Thank you very much for your message. However, the solution to my problem was provided by Paul_Tikkanen.
In fact, it looked like the Win7 installer was missing some drivers (which make sense since this hardware is so new compared to the date of the release of this version of windows).
Anyway, I appreciate your time and your disposition to help.
Have a nice day,
Elsa.
