Update your drivers and let me know the results.

You can also check using the Device Manager method described here >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139

Uninstall McAfee - it is a "tricky" 3rd party app which might cause some issues and It would be better to rule them out.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and features

Find McAfee and uninstall it

Restart the PC

After restart, run the McAfee MCPR tool >> http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp

to complete the process

Restart again

Please, monitor the situation now.

If everything suggested so far has been performed and the issue persists, please check this HP article and follow the steps >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=wirelessconnection.net&section=ccweb&as=true&sfs=tdoc&langua...

Let me know how it goes. Provide details.

Went into Device Manager to update drivers, and everything was up to date. I did uninstall McAfee (still have Windows Defender active, and a portable version at the ready b/c honestly I trust that more than McAfee anyways), so we'll see how things go.

It happened again 😕
Note: it seems to happen most often when I'm doing multiple things on the internet at once. For example, listening to music while streaming video.

Do you have any other advice why my internet is giving me problems?

I am sorry you still have issues. I still believe it is some driver that misbehaves or some Windows bug.

How about reinstalling Windows / resetting the PC to factory default condition ? This should rule out some other things.

In Windows 10 there are plenty of options to choose from.

Here is how to do it:

It is recommended that you back up your files on an external storage or in a Cloud storage such as Dropbox or OneDrive, just in case something fails.

After you have successfully reset the PC to factory default settings, ensure McAfee is not installed and update your Windows.

Let me know how things go afterwards, I know it may take some time. Looking forward to your update.
