And with the solution you gave for the shutdown it worked. But turning Fast Start-up back on brings back the shutdown problem so I didn't turn that on.with that, I've no shutdown problem.
Any help with this?

You're welcome
Try the following.
Download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp62001-62500/sp62417.exe
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the following.
Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver.
When done, restart the notebook again.
