HP has just replaced the power plug for my Pavilion laptop. Is this dual voltage? There is NO switch on it but the label indicates 110-240. I purchased it in the US but am taking it to New Zealand. I have been given conflicting information - (a) that I do need a voltage converter (b) that using such a voltage converter will impede charging. I am, therefore, confused.

Hi,
You won't need a voltage converter as the power brick accepts an input between 110v and 240v and adjust automatically - I've used several US machines (110v) in the UK (240v) and there's no issue.
