Elitebook 840 G3 can't install Windows Enterprise?

I'm trying to install Windows 64-Bit Enterprise on a new out of the box 840 G3.   Both on my USB 3.0 external drive I user to install, as well as a burned DVD of Windows.  Both give this error at Windows Setup.  "A Required CD/DVD drive device is missing.  If you have a driver floppydisc, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive please insert it now."

I've installed plenty of 840 G1's,  and 840 G2's.   I don't get why I can't install Windows 64Bit Enterprise (SP1) on this.  

It's got a 256 SSD,  8GB RAM.

Also,  before someone asks..  I have the latest BIOS 1.04 on it.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this works...

I have zipped up and attached the storage controller drivers listed on your notebook's support page, below.

Extract (copy)  the files onto a usb flash drive without the folder.

With the flash drive and W7 installation media plugged into the machine, boot from the W7 installation media.

After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.

Found the solution!!

After talking to HP Elitesupport, I found out that Intel removed USB 2.0 chipset support from theie Skylake chipset.  Meaning that normal USB installs for windows will not work.    Microsoft Windows ISO doesn't have the native USB 3.0 drivers either.   So you have to add the USB 3.0 drivers into the Windows ISO.    Intel came through on tihs one too.  They have a utility that does all the work for you.

Run this and point to your USB Installation media and shazamm!!

I try to doing your solution. Can't Install Windows 8.1 (64-bit)from USB [SanDisk Ultrs USB 3.0]. Elitebook 840 G3 infinite reboot loop.

How did you install on the 840 G1?

With the G1, you should be able to install easily via USB.  Just use the Microsoft Windows 7 USB Utility.   As long as you have the ISO of the version of Windows you need, it should work.  

As far as Windows 8.1, it should work with the Intel utility as well, to make it bootable.  I'd check the BIOS and see if RAID is set as well.  You want it to be ACHI.
