You're very welcome.
Please post the hardware ID for the unknown device, as there can be a few devices listed as unknown when the driver isn't installed.
To find the hardware ID, click on the Unknown Device in the device manager.
Then click on the details tab at the top of the unknown device window.
Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to Device Description.
Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters that you see in the window, and then I will post the link to the driver for the device.

Hi:
You need this driver...
This package provides the HP 3D Driveguard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection) for supported models that are running a supported operating system. The HP 3D Driveguard Software protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.

You're very welcome.
I could take a couple hours for Windows to scan your PC and find updates, but it is not normal for it to keep searching for more than a few hours -- like maybe 5 or 6 at the most.
Install both of these patches, restart the PC, and see if that helps. That would be the only suggestion I can offer regarding that issue.
