In step 3,

You say to download and install Killdisk on the line below.  How do you do this when you are in bios menu?

Thank you for your time.

Hi sir david i have same problem like this but on my side i dont have recovery disk instead of pressing f11 on the first boot... how can i use the kill disk by not wiping the recovery disk? does wiping the hdd will delete all the files on hdd?

I have an HP DV6 that I had upgraded to 8GB of RAM, and needed to upgrade the HD from 320 to ? I decided upon a 1TB drive.  When I first bought the computer several years ago, I created the restore DVD's and kept them.  After errors, I booted trying several different methods recommended on this forum noen of them worked.

My specific issue was that I received the error No bootable device -- insert insert boot disk and press any key.  Which seems to be closely related to the problem above.

After several hours of trying the above listed solutions, none of them worked, so I was forced to reload the FULL factory image.  Almost like HP blocks you from loading just the OS for an install because they make money on the bloatware.
