What do I have to do to restore my laptop to a previous date?

Hi,

You will need to run Windows System Restore.  If you have Norton Internet Security installed, disable Nortons Tamper Protection as shown in Step 2, on the link below.

Once you've done this, shut down the PC.  Windows System Restore is usaully best run in Safe Mode.  Tap away at f8 as you start the PC to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.  When this has loaded, from the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore.  Pick thr restore point you want and then proceed with the restore process.  When complete, Windows will reboot as normal.

Regards,

Click "Start", then "All Programs" , then "Accessories", then "Tools", then "something Restore".  If you want more dates then is showing in the window pane that comes up, underneath is a check box; check it.  The further you go back the longer it takes. Also, when you do this you will not be able to go back further than the date you complete the restore next time.  If you pick a date right near an installation of software as like Microsoft Office or something, that will get wiped and you will need reinstall it.  If any particular software has been on your PC for a while it will remain.  So be choosy.

I was trying to clean out some of the junk on my Favorites and hit the wrong button or what ever and lost almost all of the icons on my desktop.  I am hoping that by resetting the "back to date" it will restore the icons and I will leave my Favorites alone
