Below is a pretty good document on the subject that includes a Video  help file:

Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)

 

Essentially, what you do depends on what you have to work with        (excuse the poor grammar) ...

 

If you can get to the screen:

Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second, until Recovery Manager opens.

 

If you cannot get to a Recovery Screen, then you must do this the hard way:

See the Section in the document named: Recovery from recovery discs

 

 

There is a section in the doc named "Types of Recovery" that explains Factory Reset and Minimized Recovery.
