Unfortunately, HP does not provide support for the Ubuntu operating system. You should reference Ubuntu to see what support options you can receive from them.

Irritatingly, I have 5 HP Laptops, and they have all been using Linux for a while now.
My 3 kids are using MiNT-KDE and I myself am using Sabayon.
However in the last couple of months, with various updates, all my HP Laptops have been failing, while my old Samsung has bee absolutely rock solid.
My 2 main Laptops are my 6370-Core2Duo and the DV6-i7, both use an SSD for root and a 500GB for /home and now that I am finding myself unable to repair the installs, I have had to get the kids back to Windows, but I myself have simply decided that the issue is with HP and therefore, I am no longer going to buy HP Laptops.
I am not the only one who has found this, in other forums I have found many many people seeing the same thing but HP wont give a monkeys. So neither do I.

I just purchased an HP Envy 15 i7 3610QM, 1TB,8GB, Radeon HD 7750M from ebay because I believe HP has quit making a solid computer like this, and yes I called HP and tried to purchase a new one (J8L25AV) but it does not come close to this computer. I hope to put Ubuntu 14.04 on it. I will format the drive as that will be the only OS on the computer. I sure hope it works. I checked the Certified List and it was there.
I also want to Thank Dunidar for watching this forum. I hope the above statement does not hurt too much, at least I purchased another HP. I thank HP should consider supporting an Linux Version as Microsoft has dropped the ball near the 5yrd line so many times. The computer that I purchased is the cream of the crop. It just needed a Gen4 i7. It should have never been dropped. Why change perfection. Anyway I am new to this forum and just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Please don't let the Nay Sayers run you off.
