Pavilion DV7
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
My pavilion was working perfectly last week. I shut it down on friday before leaving tue office and it had some updates to install before **bleep**ting down. All went smoothly and today (monday) that I came back to the office it just won't turn on. I push the button and nothing happens. Battery is fully charged and it is connected to the electricity so I know it is not a battery issue.

Hello @viliesid,

Thank you for joining the HP Forums!

I have read your post and understand that your HP Pavilion dv7 is not powering on. This type of issue can be cause be a hardware or BIOS issue.

Does the power button turn on at all?

Are there any blinking lights on the cap lock or num lock keys?

Are there any beeping noises?

Do you here the fan / hard drive start?

Please perform a hard reset. Then follow the steps in these startup failure documents:

HP Notebook PCs - Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter

HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10)

I look forward to the results!

a/. If connected with power cord, does power led turn on:  yes/no ?

If yes: goto b/.

If no: remove battery

Connect to power, does power led turn on: yes / no

If yes: go to b/,

if no: check power adapter.

(e.g. simple: a wire in the power cord to connector connecting

to laptop - near the connector - can be broken)

b/. Remove powercord , remove the battery pack.

Wait for a minute or so and place the battery pack back into the laptop.

Do not connect the power cord.

Push ON.

If HP works, insert power cord.

If HP works OK, power off

wait for a minute or so

Push ON

If it works, it is OK.

If not working, you can check other options.
