HP 2000-2b09WM Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Greetings.

I want to restore my HP 2000-2b09WM Notebook PC to original factory settings, using a Restore Disk or USB drive.

Where do I find the disk, iso image, or file?

I can't seem to find it on the HP website, although I found it there before.

The best solution is to download an image of a DVD, and burn it myself.

The next best is to obtain the Recovery Disk from HP, I just can't seem to find it.

Thank you.

Hi,

There are two options available.

1.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Media using the link below - this will reinstall the operating system, all required drivers and nearly all of the original software ( the exception often being trials of MS Office ).  They will also re-create all the original partitions, including the Recovery Partition.

Order HP Recovery Discs.

Note:  If the above link isn't working ( it's not for me at the moment ), try calling HP directly.

If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

2.  Another option would be to download the Windows 8 Image file on the following link - Note that this Image file is subject to a download cap, so you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts successfully.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1

Use an application such as ImgBurn ( Note: You may want to de-select the additional software offerings during the installation of ImgBurn ) to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.

If you'd rather create a bootable Flash Drive for this Image, try the free application below.

http://rufus.akeo.ie/

The product key for Windows 8 is encrypted in your bios chip and will be automatically read during installation.

Additional software and drivers you may require can be found by entering either your full Model No. or Product No. Here.

 Greetings.

I am still unable to install this version of Windows 8, is there another way to obtain a functional product key, or must I grovel before Microsoft?

 Thanks,
