That seemed to of worked but it's just come up with with a blue screen with English and on sign bottom right hand corner but nothing else any advice please?

Hi,

 

One possibility ( that can also cause a power on password to spontaneously appear ) is a problem with the hard drive, so I'd suggest checking this as follows.

 

Shutdown the notebook. 

 

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ) and run the tests on the Hard Drive.

 

Post back with the results, including any error codes that may be generated.
