My Windows Update is broken.  When I try to do it, it sticks on "checking for updates."

How can I fix this without wiping out my installed applications?

Are you trying to run updates after a fresh install of Windows???

REO

No.  Oddly, I went to the Microsoft site again, and tried to run the little "fix" app again, and it worked!

Not sure why, but updates work now.

Thanks for your quick reply.

That seemed to run just fine, but I'm afraid it still hangs on "Checking for Updates."

Other suggestions?
