Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
Product name: Pavilion 15-p051us
OS: Windows 8 (I want to say 64 bit but I'm really not sure)

On boot the HP logo comes on and says preparing automatic repair but then it brings me to a blue recovery screen saying a required device isn't connect or can't be accessed.

With an error code: 0xc0000185

Says I need to use recovery tools on my installation media. Sadly I don't have any and searched online including HP's website with no luck in maybe a way to order them.

I also have the 3 year warranty for the laptop but am not sure if that includes software issues or just accidental damage such as dropping, spilling liquid, etc

You can order Recovery Media on your Support page. The very last item in the Software/Drivers list:

Wow thanks! So do I just download on another computer and burn it to 4 CDs, 1 DVDs, or a usb and then put them into my laptop following the rest of the instructions?

So I tried ordering but every time I go to process my debit card it says processing at the bottom and then just sends me directly to the homepage? I've tried around 7 times now with the same result. Is there a number I can call to order my recovery kit because this website isn't working. Or does HP only accept credit cards?

I was able to find the answer to my question as well and where to purchase my recovery image.

I was able to purchase my image with no issues over the web.

Which browser are you using? Sometimes the ordering process works better with Chrome browser.Or-use phone support >Contact HP
