See this article, the number of discs will vary from system to system, 2-5 discs, possibly more. The disc creator should tell you how many at some point after you start the process. Use good quality DVD+R discs.
Also make this disc, you can use a CD to make this one.

From the Start Menu, open All Programs and scroll down the list to find a folder tittled Recovery Manager. Open this and you should find the Recovery Disc Creator application. Launch this to start the process of making your Recovery Discs. You will usually need between 3 - 5 DVDs all of the same type ( ie DVD +R ) and it's a good idea to use good quality Discs.

Creating System Recovery Discs in Windows 7 for HP and Compaq Desktop PCs
It only says that several disks may be required but you may want to watch the video first as it explains which type of DVDs you are going to need.
