in a state of frustration i accidentally deleted a driver. I think it was the astero driver and i downloaded it again via the hp website. it is installed, but my internet isn't (i'm using a friends verizon card). i don't know if my deletion of that driver/software did something severe and i have no idea how to get my wireless back working.
