Yes, correct answer.
LoJac works well
CompuTrace is okay
Both are easily defeated.
I wish that the PC market would catch up to Apple. With Apple you can remotely connect to the machine and turn on the camera and have it send pictures of it's abductors and location. They really need a GPS chip in these units.

The authorities would be better to contact than HP, there is very little that HP can do last I checked... really all they do is support the product. You can report it to them and have them put in some notes saying it was stolen, though again...the authorities are a better bet.
In the future, always make sure to buy/install LoJack.
My posts are my opinions and experiences from working in the tech industry

The correct thing to do is to contact all of them. HP will flag the unit, in the event that it is brought in for service, they can seize the equipment and notify the authorities so they can question all parties, and possibly return the property to the appropriate party. Insurance should also be contacted, they will need a copy of the report.
You can also notify MS so they can deactivate the key and render the OS unusable (but you must have the key).
