I have been having issues with my machine failing the HP auto diagnosis/repair utility.   I completed both the quick and extensive system tests and completely passed both.  My question is can I assume that it was windows 10 causing the issue or is there some hardware issues not covered by the extensive system test?

Hi @fauxphox,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 17 Notebook and issues with Windows 10 upgrade. Yes this could be true. If the testing passes then it is not the hardware and all else is software.

You could  try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows 10.  Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed!

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

Welcome to this forum.

Since your problem is only marginally related to the question to which you appended, you should have opened a new question.

Did you run the HP Diagnostics, to check that your disk-drive is not failing?

Turn the computer off.

Turn the computer on, and look for a message like "press <blah> to run HP hardware diagnostics".

Press that key.

Run the RAM and disk-drive tests.
