I am new to windows 8 and am unable to find any settings or anything. I was setting up the computer for the wife and put in the wrong email address which is for someone completely different than her just happen to share first name. so they have the confirmation email instead of us. how can we get this confirmation email / change that email address to hers as I have changed it on the microsoft page as navigated to from the store but when entering the store it still has the wrong email address there and won't let us download. Please help

Use the link at the top of the Microsoft store document. At the bottom of the web page you can change the country location if required. Your interactions at the Microsoft Store have nothing to do with HP as they are different corporate entities.

In setting up new laptop my son entered the wrong email address.   Setup is not complete, so how do we go back and correct the email address?

Was the email address that he entered for the registration as an owner for the warranty for the notebook?

Hi, Provost ... and thanks for responding.    The email address my son entered was to set up the new laptop ... therefore I couldn't correspond at all with Microsoft because that addy didn't exist.

Anyway, what I did was  reset to original setting ... took about two hours, but it worked!

Now, if you could tell me how to add my security suite I'll be a happy camper!

As long as the notebook is registered at HP in your son's or your name, you own the rights to the operating system installed on it.

Don't forget to make the USB flash drive recovery media!

Installing a security suite depends on which one you are installing.

All reputable security suite manufacturers provide installation tutorials on their company websites.
