Re: 0x000007b error

Hi g-z,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I understand that you receive the error code, 0x000007b. Is there an error message with the code?

This is a stop error, it usually happens when the Operating System is unable to locate a  compatible driver or there is a difficulty with the hard drive.

Has there been any recent changes to your system or have you always had this issue?

Have  you done all your Windows updates?

Have you tried running The HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates?

You could try this,at the command prompt type sfc /scannow and press enter. This will scan for corrupted files and try to repair them.

I would also check the hard drive for any issues. Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS

Have you checked the game  manufactures site  for an updated driver?

You can try a Windows restore back to a known good time.

If you would like further assistance, would you provide your exact model of HP notebook and the Operating System you are running. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Hi g-z

Thank you for your reply.

Here is a link on how to enter  Windows 8 Safe Mode to run  the diagnostics tests. If you are unable to  enter safe mode, you can still test the hard drive from the bios.

Did you test the hard drive and did it pass?  Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS

Did you run the HP Support Assistant to check for HP updates?

Did you run the sfc /scannnow at the command prompt to repair corrupted files.

Here is link to HP Pavilion 15-n031se Notebook PC Drivers for your system. There is a bios update, have you done it yet?

Updating the Bios.

Please let me know the results.

Re: 0x000007b error

Hi g-z,

Thank you for your reply.

I hope you had a terrific weekend!

I see that the scan found some corrupted files, and  was unable to resolve them.

Would you please run Check Disk to try and overcome this.

To run check disk in Windows 8

Press the Windows key +  C to open charms

Type Command Prompt in the search bar.

Click on the Command Prompt

If you are not signed in as the Administrator, click on run as administrator in the lower left corner.

Type chddsk and press enter

This will check your system, if it comes back and needs to repair.

Type C:/r to have check disk attempt to fix them.

When you get the prompt to run Check Disk next tine you restart, type Y if you want it to run Check Disk on startup or N if you do not.

Restart your computer

If this has not resolved it, you can try Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) or you can do a recovery back to factory.

Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)

During the recovery process, you will have the opportunity to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.

If you have not done one recently, I suggest you choose yes.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8)

Please let me know the results.
