I had to update a ton too. I did a bunch of research before I update and it didn't do me a lot of good time wise. I did find out what to be aware of but I still had to do some hunting around to fix all the issues (like in this forum). The IR controller wasn't updating for me (fixed now) and I lost my CyberLink DVD suite (wasn't able to do an in-place instal from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional so I had to do a full install).
Another nice thing I learned fter the fact (sarcasm): You lose the factory installed revoery partition if you don't do an "HP Assisted" install. I made back-up discs but the revocery partition on my HD is toast. I tried to reinstall cyberlink DVD suite from my recovery disc but that doesn't allow for individual program reinstallation (or am I doing something wrong?) Any ideas on how to recover some of the programs that came with the dv7-1135nr from HP?
Sorry, this probably sn't the right forum for that question....

I have a small problem, i want to upgrade to Windows 7 but when it comes to the compatibable screen it says uninstall ATI Catalyst Install Manager and ATI Catalyst Control Centre. So i wanted to know is it safe to uninstall them or can i just leave em and install windows 7?

As I stated in a previous post go into task manager and stop the process for CCC. You should be able to run the upgrade and then update your catalyst control center and you should be good to go.

OK, I followed the links but did not see the programs I needed?
I am looking for ATI CATALYST Install Manager and ATI Catalyst Control Center and IntelliType / IntellPoint.
Under the devices might not work properly after upgrade before update device drivers or go to the device manufacturer's website. they are Human Interface Devices: HP Quick Launch Buttons (What is this anyway) and Keyboard Filter (What is this)

I need to know some information before I will try to give You graphic driver.
Write down Your p/n number which is under Your computer and looks like this
I understand from Your last sentence that You are using Win7, right?
32 or 64 bit?
Uninstall HP Quick Launch Buttons from Your system.
HP Quick Launch Buttons here (ver 220.127.116.11 for 32/64 bit Win7)
This software gives You possiility of using extra buttons on Your notebook (example: wireless button).
You are giving very bad advice to users.
Stoping CCC process shouldn't be done. Why?
This way installation of new drivers will start and even finish with success, but there is huge possibility then graphic drivers will not work correctly.
Always before installing new driver for graphic uninstall old drivers first.

OK, I am trying to install windows ugrade from Vista Business to Windows 7 pro. I was advised by the software to stop the upgrade and recommend update device drivers or go to manufacturers website to search for updated drivers.
Human Interface Devices: HP Quick Launch Buttons
Then a list of programs that might not work after upgrade. Recommend unistalling before upgrade.
Itunes (no problem getting this)
InteliType/InteliPoint (I don't know what this is)
ATI CATALYST Manager (can not find this to reinstall)
ATI Catalyst Control Center (can not find this to reinstall)
HP Quick Launch Buttons (Is this the same as the Quick Launch Button above or just the drivers)
Now, I went to the link suggested but could not figure out what I needed. Is the ATI program a suite instead of two programs?
If so where do I find it? Product is HP Compaq 6830s p/n KS25UT#ABA
