Different BIOS the InsydeH20.

Sirs,  I own a HP-15g080nr, I was thinking of installing a 120Gb SSD, but found no SATA Configuration in the InsydeH20 BIOS( for switching IDE to AHCI). Now I find that to install a new Hard Drive (SSD) it involves dismantalling half the machine. One of my questions is actually how hard is this to do ? Or should I just delete my current Hard Drive (which I need instruction) and install a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64Bit OEM. And i gather the Boot Priority just is a matter of rearanging Internal CD/DVD Device in the UEFI and Legacy Boot Orders in InsydeH20 BIOS Utility. Thank you Sirs, any info or advice would be great.

Removing and replacement of the hard disk, which is not a customer replaceable part, may violate the warranty. If you do this, you will have to accept responsibility in case of damage to the notebook.

The upgrade involves removing the battery, optical drive, top cover and the hard disk. If one is technically inclined, organized and working on items with subminiature parts is not an issue, then this is not such a difficult task. This task is not recommended for someone who finds working with very small parts and ribbon connectors difficult.

The best way to do this is to use a usb to SATA cable and cloning software. The cable and software usuallyis delivered with an SSD when it is purchased as a migration kit. Clone the OEM (legacy) hard disk before removal to the new SSD. Once cloning is complete you can remove the hard disk and replace it with the SSD.

Sirs, Thank you for the reply it means a lot to me. Changing the Hard Drive to SSD is out of the question. Now I'm just in installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 OEM (Disk). Or cant this be done ? I gather just changing the Boot Priority in the InsydeH20 BIOS involves moving the Internal CD/DVD Device to Boot first. Another question, I looked at the HP website for Drivers for Chipset (I gather MBoard Chipset). But there was none. Can the Chipset Driver be installed through Device Manager ? Also what other Drivers need to be installed for the machine to funcion properly. Thank you for the Reply, advice and other Info.

The chipset driver for a 2014 notebook with an AMD APU is the same thing as the graphics (APU) driver.

The simplest way to do this is to download CPU-Z ,install run it to view the motherboard tab.

It will state which FCH is present. Do that and post it here.

APU is  the AMD acronym for accelerated processing unit.  The APU chip contains the graphics and the chipset.

Sir, Thank you again for the Information, It means a lot to me (It's the only way I can get information and advice on Computers and other Devices). I retrived the Info you requested from CPUID CPU-Z:

     Can you Post a Feed or tell me where to Download both the Chipset and GPU Drivers, or should I install them through Device Manager. Also I gather you CAN install Win 7 OEM fron Disk. Thank you Sir for helping me in this matter

HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 on a computer shipped with Windows 8, nor will it support the installation of Windows 7. HP may not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Also, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Flash Recovery media before modifying or changing ANYTHING.

The screen shots below are from an HP 15t-j100 notebook computer... the options and configuration screens on your computer may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "BIOS Secure Boot configuration" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, before you can attempt to install Windows 7;

After saving the changes, the computer will request that you confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and pressing the "ENTER" key.

If are you are installing Windows 7 from a USB stick and see a "Load Driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing" message, this is because "System Configuration" > "USB3.0 Config in Pre-Boot" is set to "Enabled".  If this option is available, it must be set to "Auto".

Additionally, as the factory hard drive is partitioned as GPT, you must boot using the UEFI-Internal CD/DVD or UEFI-USB Key/Drive to install Windows on a GPT partitioned disk. Turn on or reboot the computer and tap "F9" or "ESC" and then "F9" when prompted. Highlight the UEFI boot source you are using and press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best intallation experience. If you need Windows SP1, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download and create your own Windows 7 SP1 disc. If the DVD refuses to boot as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (may require DISABLING "Fast Boot" in the BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid UEFI enabled USB Flash drive if it is formated as NTFS and may require a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer, or WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, as it has options for "GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer" and "FAT32".

From the top...

1)  Turn on the computer and immediately start tapping the "ESC" key.

2)  When the MENU comes up, press the "F10" key.

3)  Navigate the BIOS to "System Configuration", "USB 3.0 Config in Pre-OS" and set to "Auto".

4)  Navigate the BIOS to  "System Configuration", "Boot Options" and set "Secure Boot" to "Disabled" and set "Legacy Support" to "Enabled".

5)  Press "F10" and click "YES" to "Exit Saving Changes"

6)  Computer should restart and display "Operating System Boot Mode Change"... type the four digit code and press "ENTER".

7)  Let Windows 8 boot-up and place the Windows 7 SP1media in the DVD drive or USB port, then log-off / shutdown.

😎  Turn on the computer and immediately start tapping the "ESC" key.

9)  When the MENU comes up, press the "F9" key and then select the correct UEFI boot source (Internal CD/DVD drive, USB CD/DVD drive, USB Flash drive, etc.)... Press any key to boot CD/DVD, if prompted.

10)  Select "Language", "Time / Currency", and "Keyboard" settings and then click "Next"

11)  Click "Install Now"... check "Accept Terms" and click "Next". Click "Custom (Advanced)". 

12)  Follow all prompts and answer as needed. Enter Windows 7 key when requested.

Please try the AMD provided AMD Chipset Drivers (SMBus, USB, and SATA/RAID). Post (just the text) the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" for all devices, as shown in the example below and we can direct you to the proper drivers;

Sir, Again Thank you. Is there no way to install the Win 7 OEM (Disk) which was originally equipped, On the machine. Or is a USB Device better to use. Seems a lot to go through to install a OS. The Disk seems easyier. Also when do you insert the Windows 7 Activation Code from the USB Flash drive method. Possibly I could try the USB Win 7 installation Device, but I have the OEM Copy. Then comes the Drivers which I gather are installed through Device Manager. Maybe see you later on that one Sir. Thank You, more and more questions...

The chipset drivers  and graphics driver are in the Graphics driver software. That is how it works with modern AMD based notebooks with only the on chip graphics like yours.

 Download the driver from your notebook's  support portal in the driver download section.  All of the available drivers are located there.

Sir, Thank you for the Re-ply. Another question. I bought a copy of Windows 7 HP SP1 64Bit OEM is there anyway I can install the OS from Disk, or does it have to be by USB Flash drive Method (which you outlined above). The machine originally came with Win 7 HP 64Bit (no SP1). Also which Driver is the Chipset, GPU Driver. I'm getting a bit mixed up which to install. Sir, I hate to seem rude, No one can seem to answer my question. I do not see why I can't install Win 7 SP1 64Bit OS from Disk. I must admit the Machine is not in the greatest condition to be Installing from the "USB Flash Drive Method" it's risky, Just one simple answer, can I use the Win7 OEM disk too install the OS. or NO ! Thank you Sir's...
