Hi,

The notebook is running perfectly, all drivers are installed beside 2 unknown devices. I guess those arent important, mostly likely its the HP 3D Guard or something like that?

Anyhow I was wondering, my notebook HP Elitebook 8540p, Intel i5, 8gb ram, 240gb intel ssd, 2,5ghz or so. I was looking at the site http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-EliteBook-8540p-Notebook.33098.0.html.

Under the Performance section on the site you can read that the notebook can boost up to 3,06Ghz with turbo boost or Hyperthreading function as its also called.

My question is, to activate this "boost or hyperthreading function" do I need a special driver/drivers or is this function activating by itself when the notebook is working really hard.

The purpose of this question is, could this benefit some games that require some more CPU for a better gaming experience?

Kind regards, Dave.

Hi:

You may need the 3D driveguard driver for the one unknown device.

The other one may be the fingerprint sensor that needs a driver.

The turboboost thing is automatic.

It might help with gaming a little, but it is normally the graphics adapter that is most important in that regard.

Hi,

Alright, thanks for the info.

Do you recommend to install the drivers for the unknown devices, will they or could they cause any trubble in the future?

HP Recommended

Anytime.

If it were me, I would be installing the 2 drivers.

Hi,

In that case then here are the hardware ID's of the two unknown devices. Just to be sure if those are the you linked before.

Device:

ACPI\HPQ0004

*HPQ0004

Device:

USB\VID_138A&PID_0007&REV_0072

USB\VID_138A&PID_0007

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I guessed right.

Those are the ID's for the 3D driveguard and the fingerprint sensor.

Worked like a charm.

Hi:

For the ID of PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592, you need this driver...
