Elitebook 8460p
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I had to reinstall windows on this and there are several drivers missing, notably the WIFI driver.  I have tried to download drivers from HP, but they havn't worked.  Any ideas?  I've tried searching for drivers online, but all I have found are foreign sites that seem dubious.

This laptop was missing several drivers; only one USB port worked, the displaly was odd, no sound...  I had tried looking up the driver ID on the device manager and searching for it; that didn't work.  The HP selection of drivers for this model did not supply all of the drivers I needed (still no WIFI, no sound, no USB).  I installed a USB wifi adapter in the working USB port to get it on the internet.  I found a website for Driver Mender, paid them $40, and let the site examine the laptop.  I didn't like letting an unkown site have access, but the machine was useless other wise.  Driver Mender replaced the missing drivers and updated the rest.  I don't seem to have any viruses or malware.  I uninstalled the USB WIFI; and the machine seems to be working perfectly.   It was fast (considering the amount of repair that was done; much faster than me trying to track down each driver individually), and worth the money.

Hi:

There can be one of many different model wireless cards in your notebook depending on the product number.

It is easy to figure out what driver you need for the wireless card if you please do the following steps for me...

Since there is no wireless driver installed, there should be a device labeled Network Controller in the device manager under an Other Devices category.  The network controller device will have a little ! mark next to it.

So, find the network controller device, click on that and then click on the Details tab.

Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.

Drop down on that list and select the third item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters you see in the window

Hi, I reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit on my Elitebook 8460 and a lot of drivers are missing (A lot of devices in the manager have yellow exclamation points). Some of the drivers I need are for the Hardware ID's below. Can you please help me with these? And is there a way I can search for the drivers via hardware ID for the other drivers I may need in the future (Besides by making a forum post)?
