I have updated to win8.1 and HP 3D DriveGuard cannnot detect my HDD or SSD. Both are shown as "Hard-Drive not supported". I have tried using multiple version of the same with no results. I have latest versions of all drivers. As 8.1 is relatively old now, I expect there would be an update to solve my issue...Anybody aware of the same..??

Have you tried this version?
This is for the protectsmart hardware ID version of ACPI\HPQ0004.

Yes, the accelerometer would be the device to check the hardware ID on.
You would click on the details tab and then there is a property drop down list.
You select the second item (hardware ID's).
The top line would show the ACPI\HPQ0004. If it shows an ID of 6000 or 6007, then a different driver is needed.
I have seen the problem you are having reported by other forum members and unfortunately, if you tried that driver and it still doesn't work, then nothing will.
I have even walked folks through manually selecting the specific setup information file to install the driver and even that doesn't work.
But let me know if the hardware ID is different than 0004 because there are different drivers necessary.
The good news is that a SSD has no heads to park in the event of a sudden jarring or low height fall of the notebook, so the 3D driveguard is N/A to a SSD.

Under device manger>System Devices>HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor>Harware ID reads like this for me...
SO I think it's the "004" u where talking about.
So my question would be, is there any win8.1 driver for this hardware that is known to work well..??
nd Do anyone have such a combiniation working..??

Yes, that is the ID and the driver I posted is the only one I know of that should have worked.
As I stated before, I have read a few posts from some forum members who were unable to get the device to work, and unfortunately, I do not know what you will ever be able to do about it.

SO, that's the scenario... :-(
I hope (against hope) that HP/Microsoft might roll out an update to make my accelerometer more than just an addional payload on my back... :-(
Meanwhile, anyone with the following hardware ID is totally welcome to share what driver u guys use....
