Upgraded from Windows7 professional fairly smoothly. During upgrade Windows 10 required an un-install of the HP Protect tools and all of the associated files; I assume this was the program using the finger print reader when I first purchased the lap top
The BIOS is set to allow the biometric device. Device Manager shows the “Validity Sensor” and it is the latest driver 4.5.133.0. Did the setting change from gpedit.msc and went to Admin tab to allow use of biometric device and log in using biometric device. I even went to power settings and unchecked the attribute shutting off biometric as a power savings
Under the windows 10 settings for Accounts under sign on options, there is no attribute for biometrics and/or face recognition. I added a PIN hoping it would appear, but nothing. Windows “Hello” is none existent
Any help or suggestions appreciated

Well after spending hours with windows tech support they were able to verify that the validity driver that HP hs will not work with windows
Search of the forums found a link to Lenovo for an updated driver for the validity sensor device..it is packaged as a Synaptics driver http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds103635
BTW- Synaptics now owns Validity Sensor
Uninstall all HP drivers one by one in Device Manager
The FP reader will ultimately show as an unklnown device
Install Lenovo Windows 10 driver pack...be-boot computer and the the devive will re-show with the updated driver
Well what d you know, now Windows Hello shows up in the accounts folder and you can use your finger print reader
Shame we have to go to another source instead of HP updating their driver list

I learned that the biometric service had to be turned on. Here's what worked for me:
Start >Conrol Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Look for the "Windows Biometric Service" line and st it to "automatic". Assuming that the correct driver in installed, it might help you, too.
