HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j024ea Windows 8.1 Update Error Code 0xc1900101-0x30018

Hi

I recently purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j024ea, which was advertised as being ready for Windows 8.1 but have ran all the windows and HP Updates the Laptop will not update to 8.1

It installs and restarts but then fails when setting up devices it gets to approx 85% and then restarts and restores back to Windows 8.

Any help would be much appreciated

Windows 8.1 update has problems with the installing devices section

Take a read of the Microsoft Answers thread and follow the instructions given to try to resolve the issue.

I have read this thread and it appears it could be due to railink Wifi Adapter, it says in the thread to disable it in the bios but having accessed the Bios I don't see an option for the Wifi.

Then disable it via the Device manager. Right click the device and then select disable. The example below uses the LAN network adapter. you should choose the Ralink adapter device instead to disable.

Hi

Thanks for you help I have found this option and also tried uninstalling the trial version of Norton which came with the laptop but the issue still occurs.

at the point of failure I get a this message System_Thread_exception_Not_Handled

It then reboots and restores back to Windows 8

Did you go to Symantec to get a Norton Uninstaller utility or did you use Programs and Features to uninstall it?

HP is working on the RaLink wireless problem. I suggest that you keep an eye on the network device driver section in  the web support portal for your notebook.
