HP G72 Windows 7 does not recognise HP Photosmart C4480 printer/scanner

My HP G72 Laptop with Windows 7 installed no longer recognises Photosmart C4480 Printer/ scanner. I have tried reloading drivers with no success, because message comes back no printer recognised.Windows 7 should automatically pick up hardware but does not. It was alright up to about 4/5 weeks ago. The first sign was that it would not recognise the scanner, then a few days later it didn't recognise the printer. I have replaced the usb cable tried another canon printer, with no success. i have even purchased and tried to load an update of Windows 7 but could not enter the 15 digit key. Or at least it would not recognise the product key. HELP

Re: HP G72 Windows 7 does not recognise HP Photosmart C4480 printer/scanner

HI Chadwick,

Thank  you for your query, I will do my best to assist you.

I understand that when you connected 2 different printers to the USB port on your notebook nothing happened.

You tried a different USB cable but no change.

You can run HP Support Assistant to aid with updates and resolving issues.

To open  Device Manager right click on Computer and choose manage.

Double click on Device Manager to open

Click on USB controller to expand the list.

Do you see any marks on them?

If you do right  click on the one (s) with the mark  and disable

Now repeat the process and re-enable.  Sometimes this helps.

If that has not resolved it repeat the same process only  uninstall and then scan for hardware changes.

You can also check for updated driver using the same method.

You can also run MS Fix it to help resolve issues.

Here is a Windows link to Tips for solving problems with USB devices.

I hope this has helped.
