I recived my new netbook mini 5103 with Windows 7, out of the box, it runs one thrid slower than my old 5102 with XP.
Can I remove Windows 7 and replace with XP as Win 7 sucks even after I spent a day tweaking Win 7, it is still slower on a my newer, faster netbook.
HP, why have you sold me a faster netbook that runs slower than one I bought 3 years ago all because of the MS OS ??
That was not in the brochure !!!!
HP, you should be complaining big time to Micirsoft for their poor quality products such as Win 7, Vista and Office 2010.
Anyone gone back from Win 7 to XP on a HP mini 5103 ?

You should be able to.
You may even be able to use an HP XP OEM cd from another system.
Drivers will be your biggest problem.
You will need an external CD drive for the installation.
You may want to back up the original just in case you want to go back.

The Operating Software determines the speed of a computer. Ignorant me, all these years I thought it had something to with memory, CPU and front bus, harddrive spin rate, etc. All this time to gain speed it was just a simple task of installing an older version of Windows.

Make sure you don't go back too far.......don't want to boot to a DOS prompt.
I have tested Linux Ubuntu via USB key last night on the Mini 5103, it screamed compared to Win 7...even via USB.

You will have to change SATA Device Mode from AHCI ot IDE under F10 BIOS Setup | System Configuration | Device Configurations in order to be able to install Windows XP. At least that was the case for me.
