HP Pavilion G6-1116so, Window XP Drivers Help

Hello everyone!

My name is Eirikur, i was born in Iceland but I've lived in Sweden since i was 3 years old.

I am currently 19 years old and studying to hopefully become an Automation Engineer.

I bought a HP Pavilion G6-1116so to use in school, which was a very good Computer regarding the price.

I need the computer to run PLC Programming software (most of them only works on Win XP),
and i will also need to connect to a Domain in our school network.

I am/was currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (There is only one PLC programming software that can be run on 64bit OS, and I'm not allowed to use domains either....)

I've managed to install Windows XP Professional SP3 on a second partition of my drive.
(With help from the priceless guides in this forum, all respect for the people who wrote them. (Even tho they are abit old :smileywink: ))

Now i cant get into my Win 7 (I'm looking for a solution atm, but hey! If anyone here knows a good and easy way to fix the bootloader, tell me :smileyhappy: )

And I neither have any drivers working with Win XP. (I've tried, but i cant find them anywhere)

Could anyone please be kind enough to help me out?

Best regards Eirikur

(PS. My English is not great, so if there is anything you don't understand just tell me and i will try to explain what i mean.)

Re: HP Pavilion G6-1116so, Window XP Drivers Help

Hello and welcome to the forums! Great job you have done there with getting XP installed with some help of our_yes,quite old now_guides, first put up in 2009 and not kept updated enough to cover the latest hardware. That is quite a chore and not enough time in the day..nor enough money in the budget to keep buying new machines to test.:smileywink:

Best way to get dual boot working is EasyBCD HERE

Once you get back into Win 7 you can check Device Manager and post back the specific hardware such as Network adapter, etc and maybe someone can find your drivers.

Hi again and thank you :smileyhappy:

EasyBCD was heaven!!

Is there anyway to see if i installed the chipset driver correct?

The Intel graphics driver just made my screen black after the install reboot. (No worries tho! I went into Safe mode and uninstalled it :smileywink:)

I managed to get my sound working and the Ethernet port (Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller)

I had no success with the wireless drivers tho...

Perhaps i installed them wrong? i installed them to my D:\swsetup and ran them from there if they would not autorun.
I cannot access the broadcom website either...

Could someone pretty please help me to find a working WIFI driver? :smileyvery-happy:
Device name: Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 wi-fi adapter

Try this for Broadcom:

Use Intel's tool to find a graphics driver:

Hello again.

The broadcom driver does unfortunally not work..

I was up all night trying with (kindof) every driver i could find.

I dont know what to do, the Wi-Fi is the thing i need the most.

Best regards Eirikur

Edit: I just noticed a  Microsoft virtual mini adaptor, what is that? :smileyvery-happy:

Is the Broadcom showing at all in Device Manager?.Is it telling you to enable the wireless when trying to install driver? If so,you can try enabling it with HP Wireless Assistant, here Not sure it even works on your model, but on many XP installs it is needed to enable wireless. After installing use the icon in Control Panel or the System tray to open it and see if Enable is an option for the wireless.

Re: HP Pavilion G6-1116so, Window XP Drivers Help

I'm sorry, but the Wireless assistant dont work (nothing happens when i klick it in the control panel)
The computer does the "hardware removed" sound when i press the hotkey for Wi-Fi. (The sound when you pull out a USB stick)

Device manager in Windows XP

Windows 7 Device manager

both managers did show hidden devices

Im sorry, this is quite messy. But i did not know anyother way to show you what i have in the PC.

Best regards Eirikur

@Mangoo

Hi,
Go to:

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Devices Manager

Right click each device with yellow exclamation mark ( ) and choose ' Properties '. Next select ' Details ' tab and paste here Hardware Ids . This way we will know what kind of driver you need.

Below you've got example how to do it:

First install chipset driver from here (this driver was verified by me and should work).

It is very important to restart system after this step.

Both this things will be solved after installing driver for Intel graphic card.

Download and install this driver (It should work but I did not verified it completly).

Restart your system and check are this both problems solved in device manager or not.
