Help with Recovery Media Creation

I bought  a new HP laptop from Best Buy last night, and immediately took it home last night and ran the Recovery Media Creation (after the initial setup). I am getting an error when trying to use DVD-R media that states "We are experiencing errors in recovery media creation. Please try again.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Help with Recovery Media Creation

Hi Billy,

Try running the Recovery Media Creation application in Safe Mode.  To do this, tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.  Once windows has fully loaded in this mode, try creating your Recovery Discs.

Regards,

Re: Help with Recovery Media Creation

Well - Safe mode did not work either...

Now I am getting a message when I begin to run the recovery manager in safe mode that states "please insert battery" and "power adapter must be attached to proceed". - I have both attached and even tried a different power socket...

Help?

Re: Help with Recovery Media Creation

Hi,

Start the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In to the Run box type msconfig and hit enter.  In the following window, click the Start up tab, remove the tick next to each start up item and then click Apply to make the change.  Reboot the notebook.

When windows has fully loaded, hold down the Ctrl & Shift keys as you launch the Recovery Media Creation application, click Yes if you get a UAC Prompt and see if you can now create your Recovery Discs.

Regards,

Re: Help with Recovery Media Creation

*Update*

I was finally able to get the Recovery Media discs created this weekend. - I read on another forum about having trouble with particular dvd-r brands, so I went to Best Buy and bought another brand. The discs were created on the first try with the new media...

Thanks to DP-K for all of your assistance!
