Re: How do I RESTORE my system to the original factory settings

I have a Windows 7 that was updated from Windows XP.  I installed my new Norton Antivirus, as I do every year, restarted the computer, then shut it down when I was done.  The next time I went to use it, it wouldn't boot up.  The lights turn on and it makes noise like it's booting up, but the screen remains black.  There is no option for me to press f8 or f11 or whatever it is to restore, and I've tried pushing them anyways but it does nothing. I hold down the power button to turn it off, but it does nothing...It will only power down if I unplug and remove the battery pack.  The disc drive won't open so there's no way to use recovery discs either...although I don't have them but considered ordering them.  Please help...I don't have money to buy a new laptop.

Hi bubblebaby:

Thank you for  your inquiry.

I  understand after upgrading to Windows 7 and installing Norton Anti Virus you are no longer able to boot up.  I am sending you a link to a document on "Computer does not start Windows 7" click here.   If you require further assistance please reply back.

Re: How do I RESTORE my system to the original factory settings

I did what CherylG suggested....and I ended up with an error saying that BootMGR is MISSING press CTRL+alt+delete to restart.    AND it will not restart.  In fact, it is now doing nothing.  I have a black screen with those words in the upper left hand corner.  Perfect.

Re: How do I RESTORE my system to the original factory settings

Not really.. i have windows vista 64 bit. No cd... all i want is to restore to factory settings.
I dont care if it loses anything just want it back on..
F11 does not work... at all so the only things i can do is just what it says for one of the functions.. but f11 will not work.
