How to disable/enable FN keys?

[ Edited ]

Hiya,

Does anybody knows how to disable FN keys?

It is uncomfortable for myself because I am using F1-F12 very often and for example F2 makes my screen darker. I don't want to get my screen darker so any solutions?

My model is DV6-6030ew. I have tried a lot of methods, even disable in BIOS active keys. None of them works.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You can't disable the Fn key entirely, but you can change when you need to use it in combination with the f keys.

Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu and then change the setting shown in the document on the link below.

Re: How to disable/enable FN keys?

I am sorry, but I don't understand whole process. I've disabled in BIOS, but my screen is still getting darker and darker. What is the purpose of disable function in BIOS if it is still working? Or maybe.. I don't know how to use it properly.

Re: How to disable/enable FN keys?

Hi,

If you boot back in to the bios, does the option still show as disabled - ie is the bios retaining this setting?

As f2 dims the screen when it shouldn't, does f3 also brighten the display?
