Re: How to order Windows Vista recovery CD

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums. I'm sorry but this is a peer-to-peer community of HP customers, and not a venue to contact HP directly. Most of the users here are consumers like yourself who are offering solutions because they like to help others, and any HP employees you see are here on their own capacity and not representing the company.

If you have additional or direct feedback for HP about their products or services, or questions about repair, you can use the link below for contact information.

If you have other questions and concerns about using the forum, please feel free to send me a private message.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP support forums.

If you don't have HP Windows Vista recovery disks, please have a look at the suggestions above and this link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07143

Once you get it/them, here is information how to perform recovery:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-e-g-Windows-8-Software-Recovery/OS-Recovery-H...

If your hard disk drive is corrupted, you may have to order a new one or contact authorized HP service center for assistance - information can be obtained here -> http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

Re: How to order Windows Vista recovery CD

So I've followed the above instructions, except that the www.hp.com page has been changed.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/662/c03475890.jpg

The above picture is outdated.

There is no longer a "drivers and software" option, but instead it is now "drivers and downloads".

Here's the path I've been taking:

1. www.hp.com

2. clicking the "support and drivers" option

3. clicking the "drivers and downloads" option

4. I type my computer model into the search box - "Pavilion dv7-1245dx"

5. One result is found, which is the notebook I have - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3860630&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Here's the bit where I'm getting frustrated.

6. I press the blue "next" button with "Microsoft Windows Vista" selected, and nothing happens.

7. I click the "How to order recovery disks" button on the lower right side of the page.

8. I get to this point: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=2093&product=3860...

then I click the "Ordering recovery discs from HP in the United States and Canada" link and get here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=2093&product=3860...

9. I follow the instructions on the page which tell me to go to "www.hp.com" and then select "support and drivers".

At this point, I'm back at square one, as it then has me basically go in a circle. What do I do to order a recovery disk through HP? Is it even possible to do so since the page is changed?
