Hi there,

I have been reading this thread and found that it could help me fix my problem.

Could you please help out?

I have tried to downgrade from Windows 8, on a HP Envy M6-1117TX.

I attempted to run the disc from boot finally got it working.

Though in the attempts, I used Gparted to create a new partition and create an NTFS disk. As there were none available prior.

So basically now there is no OS and I can't get past the last stage of installing Windows 7.

I am able to run the install now, where it will soon restart, so I then have to change the BIOS boot device options and load from Hard Drive.

Easy.

Now Windows is completing installation .. where I get the error message:

Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware.

I have tried both (x64) and (x86) with the same error message.

So now I have been trying to track down some drivers. I have put them on a USB and attempted to open them in the Windows 7 installation menu, where there is an option "Load Driver". And then I recieve the error "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct dirvers, and then click OK."

So what am I doing wrong? Maybe I have the wrong drivers.. Possibly. But am I trying to open them the wrong way?

I really have no idea. Ive been stuck for 2 days now, and just slowly making progress, only to stumble upon a new error.

Could you please help with the correct drivers, and anything that I may be doing wrong?

Thank you very much, it is really appreciated.

Adam

Hi, twcdavid85:

For future reference, all of the drivers from this model should work.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5278...

Below are the links to the specific drivers you need:

The first device is a NETGEAR Wireless Router Module Driver that needs to be installed. I would check your routers website for that, or don't worry about it.

Next is the wireless driver:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-107923-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

Next is the card reader:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-102462-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

Next is the video adapter.  I would install this one first before you install the others.

Hi, Adam:

Unfortunately, I only have one suggestion for you, if you have access to an XP installation disk and a USB floppy disk drive.

That would be to first get XP to install on the PC and then try to get W7 to install once you do.

If you don't have access to a USB FDD, but you have an XP installation disk, then read the info at the link below on how to slipstream the AHCI drivers. Read the Intel section, and then read the document on how to slipstream all of the drivers.

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-e-g-Windows-8-and-Software/SATA-drivers-for-...

Below is the link to the XP drivers you need to slipstream.  Second download is for XP 32 bit.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730&keyword=rst&lang=en...

Now, if you do have a USB FDD then you extract the files from the link above onto the floppy.

Plug that in to a USB port. Boot up fromt the XP disk and hit the F6 key when asked if you need to load the sata/raid driver.

Windows will continue on and load some more files.  Then it will stop and ask you to choose the driver you need from the list.

You need to use the Up/Dn arrow keys to scroll to and find the right driver you need for the drive controller in your model.

The specific driver that the drive controller needs for your model is the Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.

Good luck.

Hi again,

Thank you very much for your helpful reply.

I followed the instructions to slipstream the drivers as I dont have access to a floppy disk drive.

I have completed that, but now when I run the installation, the files are copied.

I have the message on screen, Setup is starting Windows.

Then it says Please wait...

A few seconds later, the laptop shuts down. That's it. I try again, and again, and the laptop shuts down at the same point.

Yet another problem!

Hi, Adam:

Sorry that didn't work. It should have. My guess is that Windows isn't seeing the hard drive.

I guess you can go back to trying that driver (but from the 64 bit download file) and try installing W7 again.

If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid I don't have any other ideas you can try.

I do have one last question...Are you installing W7 or W7 SP1?  If you are installing with W7, I have read where others have had similar issues and they were resolved by installing using SP1.

You don't have W7 SP1?  No problem.  You can download a fully legal copy of it at the link below.

Select the version you have the product key for (Home, Pro or Ultimate).

Then use this tool to put it on a 4 GB+ usb flash drive or DVD.

Hi, Nin:

All of the W7 drivers from this model should work on yours.

Start with the Intel chipset installation utility first, reboot and then install the Intel video, reboot and install the audio.

Then you can install the rest. I would install the other chipset drivers next (USB3 and IMEI)
