No connection

HP Compaq Presario CQ60-514NR Notebook running Win 7.  64 I presume

Without anything being done by me and without error messages one morning I cannot connect to the web via my broadband modem.  Apparently the LAN is working I can't test it at this time.  A broadband tech support led me through to the window showing my potential connections and there is no hard wire connection displayed.

Any thoughts on how to recover the ability to connect?

Re: No connection

Hi,

From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.

ipconfig /all                        ( Note that there is a space between ipcofig and the / ).

Copy and paste the results into Notepad and then copy and paste these details with your next post.

Regards,

DP-K

Re: No connection

Unfortunately I'm using my desktop to communicate this.  The Notebook won't connect.  I have the information pulled up and can hand type what is needed.

Re: No connection

Hi,

It may be easier if you copy the information in to Notepad on the notebook and save the document, then transfer this document to your Desktop so you can copy and paste it with your reply.

Re: No connection

Keeping in mind there is no LAN here I don't know how to do that.

Re: No connection

Hi,

Do you have a usb stick or blank CD you could write the document to and then transfer it to the Desktop?

Re: No connection

I tried to write to a CD but could not figure out how to get it to copy.  There is no "copy" or "send to" option on a right click menu.

[ Edited ]

Hi,

That's unusual, what options do you see when right clicking the Notepad document?

With your notebook connected, try the following and let me know the result.

From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  Into the prompt, type the following commands, hitting enter after each command.  Include spaces in the commands where shown.

ipconfig /flushdns

nbtstat -R

nbtstat -RR

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

netsh winsock reset

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

When complete, type exit and hit enter, then restart the notebook and check connectivity.
