Not sure if anything else is needed...
This error occurred when the computer was recently updated from HP OEM Vista to Win 7 SP 1. This is not the only issue, but the one not yet solvable from my limited experience. Looking for more great advice from the people on this message board. If this is the wrong board, please advise. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Download and install the Nvidia Chipset driver on the following link.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36607.exe
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

That;s what I needed. It cleared the error. Everthing seems to function normally! Now if I can just get the media player remote to work, I'll have it all ... for now ... maybe. Thanks David, not only for your fast response, but also for your giudance. IT ALL WORKS! Got this old machine running like a well oiled steam engine.

Hi,
You're welcome
Regarding the remote control, try installing the ENE CIR Driver on the following link?
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45214.exe
If this installs Ok, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load before checking.
