Hi, Allan:

You need to install this driver for the PCI controller:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12...

Let me guess...You installed a video card with an HDMI out port, correct?

If so, what happened is your onboard audio was automatically disabled by the HDMI audio on the video card, because the PC's BIOS is too old to automatically recognize both.  So, it thinks you installed an add on audio card, and dutifully shut off your onboard audio.

Fortunately, there is a quick and easy fix.

Go into your BIOS and in the device configuration menu, there will now be an onboard audio setting. There was no onboard audio setting in the BIOS before you installed the video card. It will be set to disabled.

Change the setting to Enabled. Save the setting there by hitting the F10 key and again when you exit the BIOS (save settings and exit).

After you reboot, you will now have your onboard sound back, and when you connect your PC to a TV via an HDMI cable, you should get sound to the TV that way too.
