The time on your clock keeps changing to the wrong time.

First, make sure your clock is set to the correct time zone.

Right click the clock.

Select adjust date and time.

Next select change time zone.

If your time zone is correct you may have a bad CMOS battery but you can get around it by having the system sync more often with the internet time.

  1. Go to start
  2. Type task and hit enter
  3. Click the arrow on the left next to task scheduler Library
  4. Click the arrow next to Microsoft
  5. Click the arrow next to windows
  6. Click the folder Time Synchronize
  7. At the top right click Synchronize
  8. Click properties
  9. Go down and check run with the highest privileges
  10. Click the triggers tab at the top
  11. Double click the trigger that is listed in the box
  12. At the top Begin task at start up
  13. Uncheck delay task
  14. Check repeat task (change to 5 min)
  15. On the right hand side change duration of indefinitely
  16. Click OK twice

Exit Task Scheduler

Power off the computer and see if it works

Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!

I followed the steps you suggested, but when I get to step 11--- double clicking the trigger that is listed in box--- There is no trigger listed in box. Can you tell me what to do next, please?

Thanks

I am having the same trouble with the clock chaning on my task bar. I have tried the steps given and can complete step number 10 but when I go to step11 there is nothing in the box for me to double click on....is there something else I can try because the random changing of the clock is annoying.

Thanks for your help

I am running Windows 7 Professional on a Dell Latitude laptop. There is no folder labeled "Time Synchronize" that I can find. The closest I can come to adjusting the time /clock issue is through the Local Services Dialog box under Windows Administrative Tools. The only thing it will allow me to do is Start or Disable the service.

This clock issue is driving me bonkers!

Does anybody have any insight into what I can do to fix this problem???

ETA: It is a Dell Latitude E5420. You practically have to disassemble the whole computer to get to the CMOS battery to change it or I would spend the few dollars and do it!
