Web cam not working

Hi there,

I am using a Pavilion dv6000 with Vista and am having trouble using the web cam. I attempted to delete some of the garbage that HP puts on the PC (that darned persistent Vongo, for instance.) I hadn't used the camera before then, but when I finally did decide to use it it was as if there was no camera (web cam - the one built into the LCD screen bezel.)

So I downloaded the driver and installed, and sure enough, the computer sees the camera, but in the Control Panel/Scanners and Cameras, it is not there. I attempted to run the Scanners and Cameras installation wizard but it never successfully installed.

So to recap - camera exists in Device Manager and works properly, and drivers are successfully installed. But none of the programs that should control the camera can see it, including the installation wizard.

I am willing to bet that something needs to be changed in the registry, but I don't know exactly what.  Anybody know what to address in the registry?

Please advise

Re: Web cam not working

My Webcam doesn't show up in Scanners & Cameras folder, but works fine in Yahoo Messenger,MSN Messenger. What programs have you tried it with?

Cyberlink YouCam also works with the webcam if it is functional:

Re: Web cam not working

I am also having problems with the built-in webcam on my HP DV6911.  AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60(2.00GHz)

The Cyberlink Youcam works fine,  however,  if I try to use the webcam with AIM 6.8,  it isnt recognized.

Re: Web cam not working

Open your Settings in AIM,go to the Enhanced tab. Here you should have the Video to check for webcam and option to set it for Cyberlink or HP Webcam.Try out both settings to see if any results.

Web cam not installing

I have an HP Pavilion t3444.uk desktop PC and have been given a PC Line Webcam 300k.

I cannot get it to install.

I previously had one from Tesco which is the same as this under a different guise. Tesco had a help line but they couldn't solve the problem either.

Something on my computer must be preventing the installation but what? I have even tried turning off my Norton antivirus but that didn't work either.

Help!

Re: Web cam not installing

It sounds as if one of three things is going wrong:

1. The software you downloaded is for another Operating System (like Windows XP?)

2. The software you downloaded is for a different camera - go back and verify model and serial.

3. Something is corrupt (aside from Wall Street) like your OS or the software or the hardware.

Go back and verify the correctness of your download, Uninstall and reinstall software, check hardware is actually working.

Good luck

Re: Web cam not installing

Same kind of problem here, integrated cam not showing up in "scanners and cameras", but it works fine in Skype. There is clearly a small bit of software missing.

I have just gone through updating and adding all the HPsoftware and it made no difference.
