Hi. I just brought a dv7-7243cl. I installed Windows 7. But many of the devices on the laptop such as PCI controller, Network (Lan and wi-fi) are not recognized. Went to HP support site and there are only windows 8 drivers listed. Does dv7-7243cl support windows 7? How can I get these devices to be recognized. I cannot even content to the internet because wi-fi and lan are not recognized.
Thanks in advance for any information. I think I will return the laptop if I cannot get windows 7 installed.

Go to the device manager and post the hardware ID's for the hardware needing drivers (all those with little yellow ! marks).
If you don't know how to find a hardware ID, please read the info at the link below.

First install the chipset driver and reboot.
USB Controller driver:
Unknown dev 1:
Unknown dev 2:
Network: 2nd file is driver only for W7 x64. Use that one if you let windows manage your network connection.

Your substitution for (PCI device) PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5229&SUBSYS_1818103C&REV_01 and (Unknown device) USB\VID_138A&PID_0018&REV_0078 don't seem to be right. The others are good. Any suggestions?

I will be doing the same thing as soon as my Windows 7 disc arrives. I tried using windows 8, but so much of my software and hardware is not working that I decided it would be cheaper to load on windows 7 pro.
Thank you for providing all of these driver links.
My only concern now is that I will not have any CD authoring/buring software.
Do you think the Power DVD for windows 8 will install on the laptop after Windows 7 is installed?
If not, what other option could I try?
Thank you for your help!
